So I want to apply for a single whenever I actually get my housing application, but I don't want it to affect my chances of getting a double if I can't get a single. If I applied for a single, and didn't get it, would I be out of the running for a double? My fear is getting a triple instead of a single..haha... I was wondering if I would be better off applying for a double first, than trying to get a single. If it makes a difference, I sent in my housing application on March 19 and I'm in Muir.

Housing application is already up you know.

I don’t think it affects your chances. It just depends on what you actually put in as your preferences as in snoring, hygiene, etc…

That’s just my guess.

We were able to submit the application late March… early April I believe, but only just recently were we able to fill out the preferences in roommates, dorm preference, and sign the actual contract.

Make sure you research your college’s dorm layout, if you want to apply for a single dorm, you might have to check the “apartment” box and not the “residence hall” box (the case for Sixth College) due to some colleges not having singles in their residence halls.

To access your housing contract/dorm preferences page, go to your tritionlink here: <a href=“UCSD SSO: Error”>UCSD SSO: Error;
and it should be the first “check” in the checklist page.

If you apply for a single and there aren’t enough singles, they’ll most likely put you in a double, not a triple.

I was assuming the housing thing didn’t work last night because I didn’t get the email yet, but it works today? lol

My friend applied for a single super late and she was put into a triple. I am not sure how often this occurs though. Just letting you know it does happen.

That’s what happened to my sister’s friend 3 years ago too, that’s why I was worried. xP I don’t know how early he applied though.

wait… so it’s better to fill out this housing contract early? I thought your room choice was determined by the housing application we turned in when we got accepted in march. I’m confused…

^No you are correct. It is determined by the preliminary housing application date. NOT the contract.
