Hi! I was wondering whether or not UC schools will accept you as an undecided if you do not get accepted into the major that you apply with. Is it a done deal if you do not get accepted into the major, or do I still have a chance of being excepted into the school overall?
The answer is that it will depend on each UC campus.
UCSD and UCI admit into the University first then into the major. Both schools will consider your alternate major if not accepted into your 1st choice major or they will admit you as Undeclared.
UCSB will also consider your alternate major or Undeclared if not admitted into your first choice major.
UCD on some occasions will consider your alternate major but will not accept into Undeclared unless you specify that as an alternate.
UCR will consider your alternate major if not accepted into your first choice.
UCLA and UCB do not consider alternate majors.
UCSC admits all applicants into the University and you have up to end of Sophomore year to declare a major.
Alternate majors or Undeclared are considered at UCM.
