Applying for MPA with Poor Grades?!?!!

Hi Everyone,

I am considering applying for a Master's in Public Administration. The problem is that I have very bad grades. My hopes are that I am able to get into a California State University school that only requires a 2.75 gpa and does not require taking the GRE.

I graduated three years ago with a BA in Economics from the University of California, Davis. My overall gpa is 2.874. My major gpa is 2.5 and my gpa in my last 60 semester units is 3.05. With these marks, I think that getting into a low level grad school is doable.

The thing is that I have three passes, or P's, on my transcript. I also have one No Pass, or NP, on my transcript. All were in courses not related to my major. From my understanding, this is a big deal because a "P" is seen by graduate schools as a C, and a "NP" is seen as an F. If you count the P's as worth two grade points and the NP as zero, my grade point average dives severely.

My question is: how will grad schools view my P and NP marks? Thanks in advance. I appreciate it.
