Applying for ROTC and USMA?

I would like to apply for both West Point and a ROTC scholarship, and I was wondering if it has to be done separately? I've heard of people being offered a ROTC scholarship after not being accepted at USMA, but do they only do that for really outstanding candidates? So my question is, if you're applying to USMA, do they just assume you would be interested in ROTC and forward your application to them?

Thanks.

Yes, you do need to apply to both separately. If you are offered an AROTC scholarship (after being denied by the USMA) it will only happen if you are already an AROTC applicant. Apply to both (and perhaps another ROTC program as well) and don’t forget to apply to some colleges that have AROTC programs and that will accept you as a student in case you are denied by the USMA. Good luck!
