One of the challenges of going to school in the spring term is that some financial aid opportunities such as SEOG, FWS 7 Perkins loans may not be available to you because the monies have already been allocated.

However, you should still file the FAFSA for 2013-2014 for spring 2014. On 1/1/2014, you should file the fafsa for the 2014-2015 school year.

If you are applying to begin classes any time during the 2013-2104 academic year (which could also include the summer session of 2013 or the summer session of 2014 depending on the college/university involved) and you want to be considered for financial aid, you will need to file the 2013-2014 FAFSA.

If you will be continuing to study during the 2014-2015 academic year and you want to be considered for aid, you will need to file the 2014-2015 FAFSA. The FAFSA is not a one-time thing.

Why are you applying for Spring? If you need aid, then the best aid is given to incoming Fall frosh. Spring admits don’t often get great aid.

But to answer your question, yes, you do need to file FAFSA now for Spring since that semester is part of the this next school year. And, yes, you will have to file again for the next school year.

Think about it…Spring semester starts in January. Your FAFSA would have to be filed long before that to get processed for that semester.
