Applying for the class of 2018 (College starts fall of 2014)

@perazziman - WPI is awesome! How are things for your son at Texas A&M?

He is settling in well. He has an easy schedule so lots of spare / free time. I think he is enjoying it a lot. How about you, which courses are you taking?

@perazziman - WPI has four terms in a year. That is, a semester here is two terms long. I’m taking 7 courses in my first two terms (the first semester). I’ve one course of Physics, two courses of Chemistry, two courses of Calculus, one course of History and one course of Engineering Science at the moment.

How’s everyone doing? Done with the commonapp or any of the supplements yet? I’m sitting for the ACT on the 26th and the TOEFL on the 20th. Anyone else here doing the same?

Class of 2018 seems to be lazy… This thread had died… Anyway Early decision deadline approaching! Who is planning to apply Early and where?

@winningstreak Tell me about it. I hope things change soon.
I’m applying Columbia ED. I’ll be submitting the supplementary app by tonight and l’ll be done with standardised testing by the end of Oct. Commonapp has been submitted.

@TCF, Sorry I did not see your response. S is taking Physics and Calculus with Geography and PE.

By the way, if you are doing well you should exploring opportunities for research and internships for the summer. The process usually starts about now. Most of the time it is not easy getting anything in freshman year. However, going thru the process now will help you next year because the recruiters will remember you.

@pkteen Columbia Cool! Thats great that you are done with your Commonapp I didnt start it yet :stuck_out_tongue:
Will appear in SAT 2 this nov and waiting for my Oct SAT score… Will probably apply Cornell ed but still depends on SAT score

SO anyone applying to Ivies here? Yale FTW…

TOEFL this Sunday in Isb and ACT next Sunday. Super worried about the ACT.
@WinningStreak Doesn’t hurt to dream. LOL
@hassan100 Applying to Dartmouth, Harvard, Yale and Columbia.
Where is everyone else btw? This is thread is NOWHERE near as active as last year. Invite yo’ friends over XD

Hey guys – this thread is seriously looking dead… Anyways who is applying ED and where ? And has anyone applied to UK ?
@pkteen does TOEFL really help in admissions ?
@hassan100 I’m applying to Columbia, Upenn and Cornell among the Ivy’s

@pkteen Good choice man… WHICH ACT are you talking about? There is no ACT until December 14…
@Acenad I think you should add more need blind ivies like Harvard. All three you are applying to are very stingy with aid … Trust me… My friend got into COrnell last year… she asked full aid but could get only for one year…

Any idea how many people apply from pakistan in early action in Ivies? I mean, just an idea… Are there too many?

@hassan100 yeah a lot of ppl told me that :stuck_out_tongue: I’m still deciding though and about the other thing – I think less people apply EA restricted to Ivy’s as compared to RD

What are your stats?

@hassan100
3A*s 6A’s in O levels
4A’s in As levels
2090 SAT 1 ( I gave my SATs again results on 24th Oct )
116 in TOEFL And an 8.9 in ILETS
( still have to give SAT 2 and ACT )
Other then academics the major things in my profile are

  • Published Writer ( second book due publication in Feb )
  • Composer / song writer
  • worked at GQ magazine ( NY )
  • Event planner
Blah blah blah — with a lot of extra curricular activities.
    What about you ?

I am also applying to ivies… Cornell ED probably

Hey acenad where you applying ED or EA?

@perazzimen did your S get financial aid from Texas A and M?

@hassan the ACT is on Oct 26th. I don’t know where you got your info.

And the TOEFL is an admission requirement at most places so it’s not a matter of whether it’s beneficial or not…
