Applying for transfer to Georgetown University-- How good are my chances?

Hi everyone,

I'm a newly undergraduate sophomore majoring in Political Science at the University of Massachusetts Boston looking to transfer to Georgetown University as a junior. As of now, my GPA is 3.8 and to list some of the extra-curricular activities that I was a part of in my freshman year at UMass: I was a liaison for the Undergraduate Student Government and was just recently sworn in as a student senator for the upcoming year of 2014-2015, member of the Honors College, member of Alpha Lambda Delta honors society, and a member of the Freshman Leadership Institute. I hope to be more involved in extra-curricular activities in my university his year as well. However, I'm afraid that my current academic portfolio is not sufficient enough to be considered into the transfer-applicant pool to Georgetown University due to my poor performance in high school in which my GPA was 3.4 and my highest SAT score was a 1650/2400. For these reasons, I thought it best that I waited until after my sophomore year to apply because only then might I have a fair shot at getting in. I would appreciate any comments or suggestions to help me through this. Thank you.
