applying for work?

so currently i have a low GPA (2.6 after finishing this semester) and want to try and get an internship(keeping in mind that i’m working toward getting a better GPA). If i apply for a position in a company with this low GPA, would that effect me when i graduate or try to get another intern in the same company at a later time with higher GPA?

The basic answer to your question is that any company will always consider what your current GPA is over what is was before.

The elephant in the room is your GPA. It is quite low. You do need to change something in a hurry to get it up. As much as one class builds on another, raising your GPA will require you to go back and learn what you didn’t in your earlier classes. Not impossible, but will require much effort on your part.

Stay away from the big companies when looking for an internship. Many (like where I retired from) would use a 3.4 or 3.5 cutoff for consideration for an internship (although the ad would say 3.0). Small companies are more willing to consider students with lower GPAs (although 2.6 may be too low for some of them also).
