I am thinking about transferring to some schools in Canada (either McGill or U Toronto) because I am very unhappy at my current institution with the level of academics offered, ec’s available, caliber of some students, and because I keep having issues with some people here that prevent me from focusing on my work.

When I was looking at uni’s that had good bio programs, and research oppertunities, these caught my eye. However since they are obviously in Canada, this brings up a few questions.

should i transfer and are my reasons valid for doing so?

if i apply from a Canadian school, will that hurt my chances of getting into a U.S. medical school?

thanks in advance.

wasn’t there a thread about someone going who was thinking about going to oxford for undergrad then planning on going to med school? If so, he/she was advised not to, for it would hurt his/her chances.

i did see that thread. is there a difference if i (hypothetically) applied from oxford vs. applying from mcgill?

Found this but haven’t really read it so I don’t know whether it will be helpful. It is by someone who has sort of the same situation. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/mcgill-university/483405-mcgill-us-med-school.html

EDIT: After reading it I didn’t get much info from it but personally, I would go to a US school if you plan on attending a US med school afterwards.

there is a big difference between oxford and a canadian school. All canadian schools are viewed as equivalent to American ones. Assuming you have US citizenship, you will have no problem applying.
