Ok this may sound dumb...and keep in mind IM ONLY A JUNIOR in highschool, but how does one apply to college? Like I know theres essays and whatnot, and I have a brother applying but it just doesnt seem right. Like are applications online or are there papers to fill out? Like i've searched on google but like all howto's just say..." write this and that in your application and send it" But like where exactly is this application. Do you go to the school and pick up application papers? Can some fill me in, because I want to be 100% ready for next year. Also do you send these essays with letters of recommendation and all that good stuff, or is it seperate? I don't know can someone explain to me?

@Arthua. Online application is the best as it reduces the cost to send mail to each colleges that you apply to! There is a website called Common Application. You have to register and use this as a medium to submit your online application. However not all colleges use this Common App. For Example Stanford, Texas A&M.
My guide is the college website itself! There should be an “Apply Now” tag. Here you can get to know about the procedure. About Online application, it would require a credit card. For the paper mailing you will need a demand draft or cheque.
There will be lots and lots of essay to write then teacher recommendations, counselor recoms and many more.

Thanks. If I write an essay, can I send the same essays to different schools?

Well it’s called Common App for a reason. Basically, colleges that accept commonapp you can reuse 90% of the app for those colleges. Some do require supplement on top of the basic commonapp.
