Applying late to boarding school

Due to recent changes at my school both in administration and academics, I am looking into applying to boarding school. Everything came together really fast a week before the applications were due (jan 15th). I only applied to one school and met the deadline however I am now feeling that there are other schools out there that I might have wanted to apply to. But now it is too late as the application deadline has passed. Or is it still possible and worthwhile to apply? Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

What do you have to lose by asking?

You should call and ask the schools you are interested in and although most “top” schools have deadlines on the 15th many other great schools have jan 31/feb 1 deadlines

Although schools have deadlines, many of them do take late applications. Call the admissions office at the schools you have an interest in, but don’t put it off. Call them asap.

St. George’s, Andover & Tabor are three schools that I can think of off the top of my head with a Feb 1 deadline.

Hi @dreamingsky13739, I applaud @gmc2918 's suggestion. Go ahead and apply to another couple if you can and are interested in them! I didn’t have boarding school my the radar until mid November. Although my child got her applications barely in on time, I clearly remember rushing to the Fed Ex distribution center to get her applications in when our local Fed Ex said their pick had occured early. OMG. Go for. Not everyone comes to the choice of BS with years of foreshadowing
Best of luck! =D> :bz  #:-S

The school where I teach has a posted Jan 15th deadline, but cheerfully accepts late applications. We are a strong school, although not one of the Top 10 in terms of selectivity. Schools understand that sometimes circumstances change and the interest in boarding school pops up after the deadline. Call admissions offices and inquire whether they are still accepting applications. If they are, go for it–people do it all the time.

Financial Aid may be harder to pursue after deadline?.. Schools are filled with caring people, not robot clerks , make yourself available and express your interest. Good luck!
