applying late

Penn State student. Rising sophomore.Engineering student...

Is applying late a bad idea? How does it affect my chances? I'm retaking the SAT's and SAT 2's on January 27th.I cant take them this fall- i'm taking a ****-load of TOUGH courses this fall and i'll be working on getting recs from teachers,my essays, and building my resume(doing research projects,tutoring,clubs,etc.)- basically, preparing everything i need to apply for schools(everything but my standardized test scores). I simply won't be able to take the SAT's/SAT 2's this fall. Basically, i just wanna know if my chances of getting accepted are affected by applying late. Will my application be treated equally as applications of other applicants who applied much earlier? Am i fine as long as i send the application+application materials in by the deadlines?

Bump-------------

Sorry, I'm not sure I understand... are you asking if adcoms care how early you send the application in before the deadline? In that case, I don't think they can make decisions based on that; when a deadline is set and posted, there's an assumption made by all that at least to the extent of the date of submission, everyone will be on a level playing field.

(I submitted my UC application less than a minute before the deadline --- which they extended, but that's beside the point.)

so it doesn't matter as long as it's in on time?I'm applying to stanford.

Nope, it shouldn't.

That said, try to be smarter than a few of my friends last year. They apparently failed to understand that the listed Stanford deadline of 3am is EST and submitted their applications too late.

I like to think it's Stanford's way of conducting some preliminary screening for basic knowledge. :P

LMAO----they were actually STILL working on their applications the day before it was due?

hahaha that's hillarious
