They want you to list other colleges; that freaks me out! Do have to tell them everything? Should I be strategic? What about other Claremont school? Makes me uncomfortable!

they just want to know what kind of school you're looking for.

fail. your life.

Don't worry about it. The schools you list do not at all factor into the admission decision. They just want the information so they have a general idea of where their applicants are also applying.

My understanding is that they will think you are serious about their school if the others you list are quite similar in type to theirs.

^
What would those be?
LACs, pre-professional schools?

I am trying to get a feel for schools "like CMC" -- thanks!

Small, highly selective, coed LACs with very diverse student bodies and lots of different political viewpoints.

The thing with Claremont is that it doesn't fall under the traditional stereotype of LAC.

When I did a tour early this year, the guide kept comparing the differences between CMC and UCLA, so I'm thinking a lot of CMC's competition would come from UCLA and USC, just because they're the only two LA schools in the area that tend to have a pre professional major with business econ at UCLA and business at USC. I'm pretty sure other people also apply to Pomona.
