My daughter is applying ED to a very competitive school. Both of her siblings went to Vanderbilt, as did I (her mother). If she doesn't get into her first choice and applies to Vanderbilt RD, will that hurt her chances of admission? I'm just wondering if Vanderbilt admissions will realize that and not accept her. Her stat's definitely fall in range and I do believe she'd be admitted to Vanderbilt ED if that was her first choice.

Yes. it will hurt. Schools you’re asking for a legacy boost from want the love back. Vandy is especially big on demonstrated interest. You are clearly telling them it’s not a first choice.
