applying to 10th, 11th, 12th and PG- theory

o yeah dude that was pretty tank i liked it.

thanks bro i gotta him that stuff tomorrow im pysched i got a double snowday

luky its just windy herei n cali
wow urs is too detailed. for mine i just said ur school is awesome nd rite for me. nd then they just sent it to the dean of admissions… like woah

hahahha i made a lot of that up but like i got plausible deniability a lot of people underestimate how valuable being a great athlete is in certain it is more important grades. if you have like Bs

I think your over-stereotyping, everyone at exeter is not a “self-righteous, pseudo-intellectual”. Although there are certainly people who fit this profile at Exeter, you will find the same sorts of people at all schools including the ones you are applying to.

I don’t think you can define just one “point of life”. Who are you to say what the point of life is? Are you god? Some people may disagree that the life experiences matter more than grades depending upon what you define as a “life experience”.

It is very narrow-minded to believe that learning has but one purpose and isn’t multidimensional. Some people would disagree that the purpose of learning is “to take knowledge and become a smart independent person who can in turn take their knowledge and wisdom and pass it on to the next generation”.

You can have your opinions on who should be allowed to “walk this earth” but you should be a little considerate to others. A person could substitute “grade grubbers and grinds” for any other group of people on this planet but it is still wrong to bash on a certain type/group of people.

You are assuming that everyone who is a “grade grubber or grind” can’t think for themselves, you imply that everyone leaving exeter has their parents ideas/views for the world and you generalize that graduates of exeter have only book-smarts, do you have any evidence to support your conclusions? Do you even know someone at Exeter? Do you know how EVERYONE acts/feels at Exeter?

yes in fact a know a great number of current students and alumni who go/went to exeter yes i agree that every school has a certain percentage of these type of people but exeter has the most i think that people don’t understand why or what they are learning and only can about the end result. many not all of the people that i know who have graduated or currently attend the school are like this they strive for greatness but do not fully understand why they are doing this. i would not say this if i only say knew one or two people who had gone to the school. let me just say that the group of people includes my own uncle and cousin, who i detest immensely because all they talk do is talk about Dostoyevsky, politics, and recently discovered theories about the outcome of various historical events. and they cannot ever admit that anyone else is right other than themselves simply because of where they went to high school and university, and what grades they received at their institutions of learning.

and i realize that, my comment may have been a reactionary one and i apologize for that its just i feel quite strongly that many students who come out of exeter have no respect for anyone else’s opinions, and they look down upon them with a smirk, like your intellect is vastly smaller than theirs.

that is just my opinion based on my experiences with current students and various alumni

Well hopefully I will change your opinion, if I attend exeter haha. Sorry if I came off a little snotty but I just dislike when a person says bad things about a group of people who can’t defend themselves, so I always tend to take their side. Many people derive their opinions from one impression from a campus tour or one person who went to exeter from their school but I guess you have some evidence that certain people who go to exeter act in a similar fashion.

And being sleep-deprived doesn’t help either.

its fine exeter is a weird i had some friends i really liked before exeter but they were completely different after attending even just for a semester. it was bizzare. lets just say i am not longer friends with them anymore hahaha

yeah - I have no patience for people who already have all the answers either.

The main reason I want to go to exeter is to change. At the moment, I am the kid who usually just sits close to the back of the class who pays attention and works but never takes anything out of his classes. This year I feel that I have learned absolutely nothing.

If I go to exeter or another boarding school, I will be forced to be in the center of a discussion and will push me out of my comfort zone, which is what I feel I really need. And the whole environment, I think will let me try to things and experience new experiences.

thank you sir,

the worst is when they think they have all answers when in fact they don’t. it is the most frustrating feeling in the world

wow guys, exeter sounds so horrible and scary all the sudden…its still my favorite tho

hopefully i won’t turn into someone whose only goal in life is getting high grades, if I do get accepted and end up goin there =)

I don’t think you will change into someone who just wants to get high grades, unless you want to. I think you see people change in a boarding school, not just exeter, because of the pressures, stress, and the overall environment. All the people that want high grades, may either have had this feeling before coming to exeter or suppressed it at their current school and the boarding school life has just brought it out.

Ok, right now I need some sleep. It is midnight.

Good night

hahh my brother at exeter says he shoulda chosen andover =(. he said girls nd social life is better there.

Wow, if someone wanted an extra year of sports, why don’t they go to a sports school instead of a “nerd” school?

uhm i never recall saying i wwnat to go to a sports school… i want to go ot andover which i consider far from juust a “nerd school”

I didn’t mean you, I meant repeat and post-grad applicants.

exeter IS ‘horrible scary’ DON’T GO lol jk its a really nice place ;)
