Applying to a different major for better chances

Ok, so I will try to make this short. I have decent grades and decent test scores, they put me in about the middle of the pack of the university of Florida, which is my ideal school. Now here is my question, I am a male and am curious that if I apply to college with a major that is female dominated like nursing for example, would that help my chances. Also the major I really want is computer science, but this is male dominated, what are your thoughts?

Do you think applying as a nurse or some other female dominated major would help my chances?

Would I have any difficulties switching majors?

Do colleges have some way to stop people from attempting to beat the system in this way?

Thanks, Djay

This is a terrible idea. Some majors such as nursing may even be a separate school.

Nursing is often impacted to the point of being more selective than other majors.

Also, entering a college outside of your desired major may mean having to go through another competitive admission process to change into your desired major, if your desired major is a popular one relative to its capacity.

You may want to ask on the UF section to find out if the CS major is impacted.
