Hi everyone! so ive decided to Apply to Interlochen. And if i get in i would most defiantly go there. But my ultimate dream schools are Andover And choate. I currently have a 3.9 GPA (Long way to go if i want to get into Andover or Choate I know) but i was wondering, If i go to Interlochen next year, what would the administration think if i was applying to these schools for the year after that? would they still write recommendation letters for me? thanks for the help :)

I’d worry more about how you would credibly present your leaving Interlochen to Andover or Choate. Interlochen is an arts school. If you are heavily into an art, I would think that Interlochen would be a top choice and a tough act to follow even considering the Arts Concentration program and Paul Mellon Arts Center at Choate. What are your goals for high school such that you’d apply to a top arts school and leave it for a very different type of school? (Of course, all of this is very hypothetical considering how difficult it is to be accepted to any of these three, but I’m humoring you.) I don’t understand your logic. Perhaps if you tell us why you are considering these three schools when at least one of them is VERY different it would help. You seem to assume that you will be accepted at Interlochen but denied at Andover and Choate.

From another thread, mountainhiker has indicated that it is too late for Interlochen this year, so you would be applying to all three next year? Interlochen is not a safety. If it is a school that would be a good fit for you, then I’m confused about how a non-arts school would be a dream school.

I get the feeling that the schools’ names have a little to do with this, although I do not know the student or their situation.

Hey guys change of plans. I"m going to Apply to Cranbrook and KUA. Because of the rolling admission deadline and they seem like great schools, but again Andover and choate are the places i want to go. Would this make the application process better?

Stay where you are and apply to your preferred schools next admissions round. You are like the guy who takes a nice girl to the dance hoping to pick up a “better” partner but, if the better partner turns him down he’ll “settle” for the nice girl. Yuck.
