Applying to a whole bunch of schools (good idea?)

I'm not actually planning to apply to like 20 schools for transfer, more like 6. Is this too many? Can the schools I'm applying to see the other schools I've applied to?

I'm applying to 5 schools, so I don't really consider 6 to be too many.

From what I've heard, the schools you apply to can see what other schools you've been accepted to. I'm not exactly sure how it works but I've heard that a school can check out the FA packages you receive from other schools and that it's not uncommon for a school to one-up the FA package of a rival school to try to lure a student to attend their school instead.

only if you tell them

I'm gonna bump this cause I haven't really gotten a definitive answer yet.

I'm currently planning on applying to nine colleges for transfer. I have posted my list on here in multiple threads for chancing, and no one has mentioned that my list is inordinately large. Also, I have discussed my list with my high school college counselor, and she did not mention any qualms about the size of my list. So I think you are okay (or at least I hope you are...).

I'm applying to nine colleges as well, and I think as long as you have enough time to complete the applications thoroughly it's a fine idea. I had friends in hs who applied to 20 colleges including safeties, top 25 schools, and ivies. Personally, i think that 20 is way too many, but admissions is such a crap shoot that it probably increased their chances of being accepted to a very highly regarded university. I think 6 schools is a very reasonable number.

Alright good, that's relieving, because I was thinking most people only applied to like 2 or 3 haha.

Here's a question that someone in here might know how to answer. When I apply for the FAFSA, does any school I apply to automatically see the FAFSA information? Because on my application for the College of William and Mary it doesn't say anything about financial aid, but on the website it says to fill out the FAFSA..
