Applying to BA/MD programs after first year?

I'm currently a high school senior who will be attending Haverford College next year.

I've decided to go into the medical field, and I would like to be enrolled in a BA/MD program. Are there any programs which will accept a "transfer" student? I'm looking specifically at those programs which have no MCAT requirement.

Thanks!

I don’t know about the MCAT requirements, but I remember after the University of South Alabama rejected me, they said I could enroll and apply the next year.

I seriously doubt any of the accelerated program will accept transfers. Brown PLME also does not.

I thought there was a school in NY - Stonybrook maybe?
Long ago I thought I read that Tulane allows 1st year students to apply but that might be for their students only.

Not Stony Brook, I saw someone from admissions say no to transfers to the program. I doubt you will find any without the MCAT as a transfer.

Maybe I can rephrase this. Is there anyway I can apply to these programs even though I will have a year of college under my belt?

Thanks to all those who have replied!

Yes, some programs, like that at Binghamton, let you apply during sophomore year. However, I am sure they will hold those who have been at the University from the start with higher regard than transfers. I would just say be happy where you are, work hard, and you will still achieve your goal.

You can apply to Mt. Sinai and Upstate as a sophomore but you are applying to medical school, not transfer.

It is extremely tough for him because he not only has to transfer to the school but also to get into the highly selective program with the medical school (basically what we did all over again). As I said, you can look at your options, but I would focus on doing your best where you are and show that focus on medicine that you have.

Rutgers/Robert Wood Johnson you apply after sophomore year but hundreds fighting for 15? slots. Haverford is a little ivy like Swarthmore so I suspect a real true acceptance rate of 40 percent getting into med school . They might have an unofficial agreement like Swarthmore with a certain med school also. You’re not in a bad spot to be in considering 90 percent of everybody takes MCATs.

At least you’re not headed for some factory school with thousands in each year and only the TA’s or grad students knowing your name . I’ll bet your profs will even know your name and will be willing to write letters of rec. for you if you perform. Just give up your weekends in sophomore year to get A’s in Organic chemistry.

Some have early assurance into medical school, but you need to be a student in their UG already. Transferring to a school to then apply to EA is probably not worth the hassle unless you actually prefer that UG too. What you describe is likely very rare/competitive if it even exists.

I know UMKC (6 year) takes transfer students into their accelerated program
