My daughter is planning to apply to Columbia ED. I noticed on the Columbia website that if you get rejected, you cannot reapply RD. Does anyone know if that also applies to Barnard, or are they completely separate application processes?
@ProKap, the admissions departments for Barnard and Columbia are separate. Wishing your daughter the best!
…but Barnard is not oblivious to the fact that people who swing & miss for Columbia ED do try to back door their way in via Barnard. It would be smart to be sure that she actually likes Barnard for Barnard.
@ProKap She definitely can apply RD to Barnard, and they will not be notified of her earlier ED application across the street. However, she should be aware that the Barnard RD acceptance rate is lower than the Columbia ED acceptance rate, so it might not be an easier path. Echoing what a previous response has said, she will have to make it clear her specific interest in Barnard. The two programs have pretty big differences, besides obviously special women’s programming, given that B is a small liberal arts college and C is a very large university. Her essays should reflect how that pertains to her plans. Best of luck to her, such a crazy time for them right now!
