Applying to Berkeley as a transfer...

Hey --

On ASSIST, when you look up most of the community colleges in California and check articulation agreement with Berkeley, it says "courses denied" for the philosophy equivalents at the community colleges. Here's a good example:

<a href="http://www.assist.org/web-assist/report.do?agreement=aa&reportPath=REPORT_2&reportScript=Rep2.pl&event=19&dir=1&sia=SBCC&ria=UCB&ia=SBCC&oia=UCB&aay=05-06&ay=05-06&dora=PHILOS%5B/url%5D">http://www.assist.org/web-assist/report.do?agreement=aa&reportPath=REPORT_2&reportScript=Rep2.pl&event=19&dir=1&sia=SBCC&ria=UCB&ia=SBCC&oia=UCB&aay=05-06&ay=05-06&dora=PHILOS</a></p>

So, what does this mean? That they won't count those courses if you're applying transfer as a philosophy major? If that's the case, doesn't that make transferring as a philosophy major kind of... uh... difficult, unless you go to a community college where they don't say "course denied" for the lower division equivalents? (Only CC I've seen that's like that is the City College of San Francisco so far...)

In your case it says that completion of prereqs is not a "must do" requirment. That means you can probably transfer by just doing IGETC.
