Applying to Berkeley

Ok so how does applying to UCB work? I heard that the EECS department has a 1% out of state acceptance rate, making it more competitive than MIT/Caltech. Is it a reach, match, or safety for me:

EDIT:
Pretty good essays
One stellar teacher rec, one pretty-really good one, one rec from a Harvard professor that I interned under 1-1 this summer, and one from a math professor that I had for math struct. and number theory, classes that I did really well in

Once again...zogoto you nutcase......

Why don't you go to MIT EECS?

dude, go home.

LOL Kriegz!!

I can't even imagine how Smart you are,,,,, Number 1 out of 683!!!!!!!

I'm like 11 out of 120 lol. I guess you've planned college since like 6 years ago with all of Volunteer stuff you did. I just realized now that I have like NO Awards and volunteer crap. with an 1860 SAT. I guess that's the difference between Cornelly University and Cornell College :)

anyways, congratulations on being a Genius ( top 95-100some%%in the US),, I'll just go back to being a regular old "Very Smart top 79-84some%%in the US". :)

LOL.. u guys are so funny!!

All this pretty much means that you have a very good shot.

Not like he has to ask. You'd think that sometime while he was typing in all of his information he'd realize that it's ridiculous to ask questions such as these.

so you r out of state right??
although you have really good stats,.,, it's really hard to get into berk if you are from out of states,,, cuz, my friend at colorado got 1600 on his SAT, and had 4.897 gpa (highest in the state, he took 13 ap classes and 12 classes at cc)
you know what,, he got into MIT, Caltech(with 3yr scholarship), and Princeton, but he didnt get into Berk (lol,, it doenst make any sense)
well,, berk is like that,,
and you know what,, in the 1% out of state, most of people in that 1% have SAT scores higher than 1550,, all kinds of genius apply to berk..
good luck anyway~

well, I didn't know that heyyoyo, Berkely only has 1% of out of state Students. That's weird wouldn't they rather have the best students in America rather then just the best in California??

dude,, it's all about taxes,, if you live in california,, you pay tax for california,, if you live out of state,, you dont pay anything..

thats the beauty about being in-state for UC's. Its so much easier

zogoto:

UCB: Slight Reach (EECS, out of state)

dude if u went to RSI then ur practically a shoo in for MIT, which has one of the best eecs depts. No need to waste ur time applying to berkeley.

I should still try though haha. There was a rickoid (RSI '03) who got into MIT and Stanford but rejected from Berk. I wanted a "match" school since right now I have the in-states as safeties, and HPMS as reaches. Thanks for the input guys.
