applying to BS for junior year

Hello,

This year I was planning to apply for sophomore year in BS, sadly I didn't finish my applications in time and decided to apply for junior year. Is junior year hard to gain acceptance in for school such as: Mercersburg, Andover, Exeter, Taft, Peddie, and Loomis. If anyone has any info regarding any of the mentioned schools I would be grateful if you shared it.

If you do not have serious varsity athletic prospects, then admission as a junior is tough, but not impossible. If you sincerely want to attend a boarding school, cast as wide a net as possible - some schools simply won’t have more than a handful of openings. You have no very small schools on your list, which is wise - some of them have no 11th-grade openings. I would add Brooks, George School, Berkshire, Governor’s Academy, Westtown, Northfield-Mount Hermon, and - if you want something unconventional - Simon’s Rock, which only admits juniors and seniors.

Thanks for the response, do you have any particular reasoning as to why I should apply to the schools you mentioned above?

I mentioned these schools because they have good reputations, and are known to accept upperclassmen. I recommend applying to a wide range simply because slots for new juniors are limited at many schools. Even if you have great credentials, there might only be a handful of spaces at each school. I recommended a variety of schools, but they are all in the northeast, like the schools you are already considering. You have selected a nice group of schools, but - if you are determined to go to boarding school - adding one or two more wouldn’t be a bad idea. You didn’t mention whether you will be requesting financial aid; if so, that’s an additional reason to expand your range.
