I just applied, for the Trustee Scholarship. I'm writing on the "contrasting" Shelley and Auden quotations. (The Auden was taken out of context and distorted badly.)

I wrote my essay on the Ghandi quote; I basically used it as a condemnation of the Bush administration and hoped they would take that as "strong persuasion" on political issues, which is what they stated they wanted. My SAT is 1520 and my SAT II Writing is 790, both higher than the average Trustee scores, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Did anyone apply for the Martin Luther King Scholarship

I was going to, but I can't go to the earlier audition date, so I sort of scratched that idea.

The Martin Luther King Scholarship has nothing to do with auditioning I don't think...and yeah I applied for that one too.

I applied for the Trustee-I wrote about the first quote. Mine was the change from analogue to digital and how while the great minds gather knowledge, others are left behind.....that kind of stuff--

I wrote that if scientists increase their advisory and educational participation in society, they would greatly increase the rate at which humankind refines knowledge into wisdom.

and that it is necessary to give society some time to incorporate this knowledge, otherwise disasters will occur

I wrote a pretty bad essay about genetic engineering and other biotechnology issues, and how they can be destructive if used improperly from lack of foresight and considering consequences, or something like that. Hopefully my SAT's (1520, 780 writing) and rec will make up for my not so great essay.

kiki81ny- BU sent me a sheet that said the audition date is in January for students that have applied for the Martin Luther King, Jr. scholarship. Same thing for the Trustee applicants.

Oh, I guess that only applies if you're applying to the school of arts and need an audition then...I don't think I need one for the School of Management! :-)

Does anyone know if they offer scholarships to undergrads?

These scholarships are for undergrads...they also offer scholarships that are not full tuition like the University Scholarship.

starynight5, why not request an ad hoc audition with the faculty member you hope to study with? That's what I'm doing, since I have to be in Boston for NEC auditions anyway, and can't afford to fly there from Tennessee twice.

Also: GANDHI!!!!! NOT GHANDI! I can't believe BU misspelled it on the scholarship question. That's really bad.

I noticed that...but I spelled it the way they did. Hope that's okay...

audition for the MLK scholarship. I didn't know about that? I guess i better call them since i sent out my essay Nov. 30th.

For the people who applied to that one, what did you write about?

fiddlefrog- That's because I'm not sure who I want to study with yet. I've been going absolutely out of my mind trying to decide.

regular decision: 1550 SAT and 3.98 GPA

starynight5, I empathize, I'm in the same situation. That's why I haven't made my request yet!!! What's your instrument? Sorry if I've forgotten. I'm a violinist (obviously) and can't pick between Bayla Keyes, Peter Zazofsky, and one or two others.

I'm a flutist, and I further empathize, because we both have very competetive instruments. :P

Oh...how long is the music that you are preparing? Mine is almost 45 minutes, and I've heard that they only make you play for 10 minutes, including scales and sight-reading.
