I am a 8th Grader, and I want to go to Choate. I am not very rich and would need much financial aid. I was wondering what are my odds at making it in. Academically, I finished with the following final exam grade, then the second semester grades , and finally yearly grades, English 7 Exam-88 Second Semester 89 Yearly:90, Algebra 1 H, Exam 97, Second Semester 97, and a 97 on exam. History 7, Exam:96, Semester 2 89, and Yearly 90. Spanish 7, Exam 88, Semester 2 88, Yearly 91.
Science 7, Exam 89 Semester 2, 91, Yearly 92. Music 7, Semester 2, 96, Yearly 96. I also won math award for being best in Algebra 1H in my school. Play all sports including soccer, wrestling, and tennis. Play chess and i also know a lot about cryptography. What are my chances.

SSAT scores?

Took ISEEs and got top 30% for Reading Comp and Top 50% for Vocab. Got top 2% for both Quantitative and Math Achievement.

I’m not that expert in prep school chances, lol I’m asking for chances on my own thread. But I suggest you retake the SSAT/ISEE. Good luck

I agree about (re)taking the SSAT. The Reading (70?) and Vocab (50?) are low for Choate, which has 85% as average. I am thinking your overall is in the high 70s? I also read somewhere that the top schools like to see 80s for all subtests. Are there other schools that might be a better fit? There are lots and lots of schools out there that would love to have you for your math scores. Good luck.

Also, since you are applying for FA, look for schools where your scores are well above the average. Otherwise, your chances are very, very slim. If my D were in your situation, I would steer her to other schools. Filling out applications takes time and money, so make it a good investment. Best of luck.

Actually by the time I have responded I have already applied. I did the ISEE over and got a 97% on the Math Achievement and a 96% on the Quantitative. Also got a 87% on Reading and a 84% on the Vocab. Now what are they?

better!

Is there a reason that you’re taking the ISEE instead of the SSAT?
