I applied for transfer to SBU's computer science program from my community college. Does SBU accept applicants directly into the CS program or do I have to meet certain requirements/take certain classes in order to be officially accepted into the program?

No direct transfer into Computer Science. You may apply for acceptance to the major after completing the following two courses with grades of C or higher and a grade point average of 3.0 or higher:
- CSE 114 Computer Science I
- CSE 215 Foundations of Computer Science

Doesn’t SBU have a transfer/articulation agreement with NCC for the CS department?

We do have a transfer articulation with Nassau for CS, but you need to indicate that on your application when you first apply to Nassau.

I’ve taken Computer Science I at SUNY Potsdam and am taking Foundations of Computer Science there as well next semester, will those courses get me into the major or will I have to retake them?

You would have to take a proficiency exam, offered in the beginning of the semester, to prove you know your stuff, and aren’t a circus clown.

Best,

Really? Even though they’re both SUNY schools? I thought SUNY school credit transferred pretty much guaranteed.

I hate to put it this way, but Stony Brook has the BEST Computer Science program out of all the SUNY’s which brings me to to my next point. To ensure quality, this is needed. You can’t take courses at another mediocre SUNY school, and accept SBU to accept it at face value.
