Chance me? I go to a public school, silver level, rank 1400 in the country.

Oh and I did soccer in freshmen year (LOL)

Perhaps you mean Academic Decathlon? I question your dedication when you can’t spell the name of your EC…

In other news, low test scores, average GPA, your science awards will help esp Seimens… Overall average chance.

In my school its called Academic challenge… and decathlon is a hard word to spell lol

Thanks for the chance

Bump…

You should have some safeties.

yes, get some safeties, good fits, and a few more reaches. explore other schools. The admit rate of HYP subset is so low that they all need to be considered a reach.

well 1400 in the country is by no means a good rank, and colleges will assume that you are doing so well partly (if not mostly) because the curriculum is a joke. However, your ECs are good, as well as good leadership. Chance

chance me: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/957028-chance-please.html#post1065197986</a></p>

umm Academic Decathlon doesn’t have JV…just honors, scholastic, and varsity

I go to the same school as Ralec so I can clear some stuff up for you all. Our school does Academic Challenge/Academic Competition it is not the same thing as Academic Decathlon, it is most similar to QuizBowl (I’m the varsity captain). Also he made a typo when discussing our school’s rank, he meant 140 not 1400. Our school is a competitive public school that sends about 5% of each class to top schools and the ivies with about 3-6 a year to UPenn because of our proximity to the university (regional bias). Also RAlec, get rid of chess and ping pong club those aren’t real or at least not real enough.

@Boble - Thanks. this source says we’re 1400, not sure how legit it is (bellavance hates US world and news lol) [America’s Best High Schools: The List - Newsweek](http://www.newsweek.com/feature/2010/americas-best-high-schools/list.html)

I will probably eliminate ping pong and chess in the future bc they aren’t much of anything. I just did a copy paste of the all the clubs I remember going to.

@all - I will have safeties in mind, dw about that.

@boble - we get regional bias to Upenn…? wow I didn’t know that :D

Sent 17 kids from class of 2009 to UPenn

Oh also don’t listen to those rankings, my cousins school is like 400th and they barely send kids to top schools, and TJISST isn’t nearly as high as it should be. Those rankings are as reliable as the Forbes college rankings and are based purely off AP scores. Also dont you dare try and take credit for Ned and I taking counties at Envirothon.

(a) Do you mean TJHSST? Google doesn’t know anything about this “TJISST”
(b) Durwhat? It’s been first for like, ever. How could it get higher?
(c) Read about how USNWR ranks HSs, dude. It’s not legit, but it’s about as legit as they’re likely to be able to get with the limited information that is and always will be available.

Yes, I did mean TJHSST, I apologize. Also, we are discussing the Newsweek rankings. Feel free to learn to read whenever it would fit in your schedule.

You’re applying to Harvard as a sophomore?!?!!
Sorry, come back next year. Your SAT and ACT leave much to be desired. Your rank could also be higher, but from where I stand, I’m not going to say it’s bad.
That being said, your EC’s are strong, but you will not get into Harvard as a Sophomore. Do you mean you want us to give you a prediction of if you’ll get in after Junior year?

I’m not applying to harvard as a sophomore. It was just to get your attention. But thanks for the chance!

You have a reallllly good gpa and class rank, but these are schools who want like perfect SAT scores as well as grades, so you’ll want to improve those I think… I think all three of those schools are a reach, but you have a shot at them all if you can keep up your gpa and improve the scores. Your ECs are pretty impressive but I live near duke, and I’ve heard they don’t really look at your ECs as much as the numbers. Harvard and UPenn, I don’t really know about that.
Chance me? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/958517-chance-me-please-ut-austin-uga-unc-ohio-state-etc-etc.html</a></p>

Harvard is really unpredictable, even with your amazing stats (especially cuz you’re a sophomore).

I was at the Lehigh Valley ARML competition too! 25th/80 isn’t too impressive, but I would probably still mention it.

Harvard: reach/high reach
Penn: reach
Duke: reach/low reach

I think you should consider some other schools, like the lower Ivies. Also, you definitely need safeties. Why are you applying as a sophomore, anyway?

Chance me?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/958388-chances-yoooooooo.html</a></p>

Alwaysgraceful03 you have great chances. If you placed individually in Lehigh ARML Competition… then you’re a genius. Congratulations.

i also goes to his school, first he is not jv captain he never even got a question correct in academic challenge. Second let me describe the teacher that ralec says is awful.

1st. went to tufts as an undergrad
2nd. joined the military where he was stationed in Alaska.
3rd. After leaving the military went to Yale law school with Clintons.
4th. went on to be the top real estate lawyer in Philadelphia for a short time.
5th. A member of a financial swat team.
6th. Has traveled the world.
7th. Came to our school and is in charge of running student council, and is one of the most respected teachers in the school.
