Ok so I know that getting into Ivy Leagues, especially Harvard is super hard and competitive. I met one of the deans and asked about the extracurricular activities and SAT scores. He said that Harvard does not have an average SAT score, but come on we all know that you can't get into Harvard with 1500 SAT score. I took my SAT and didn't do so well. I got 1850, but I'm planning on retaking it and hope to get above 2000. I took AP classes, I volunteer at the hospital. I'm in numerous clubs at my school. Such as science research club, environmental club, math honor society, science honore society. I'm also a member of National Honor society. I'm a member of student leadership program at American Cancer society. A member of Arthur Ashe Science program ( it's a really unique program btw) currently I'm doing an internship at Mount Sinai Medical School in NYC. Have a 4 GPA. I'm in girls' soccer team. I also draw. I know that they want students that are unique. Students who have won contests and all. I'm going to compete in a contest soon and hopefully will get some award. One of my paintings was printed in a book and was exhibited in a museum of arts back in my country. Can this count as a unique accomplishment. I think its unique ( I'm from Armenia and moved to U.S 4 years ago and learned English here... maybe that will count for something?) I was also accepted into a high school summer program at UPenn, but didn't go because of financial problems. To sum it up, I have a lot of extracurricular activities and good grades. However, I'm still hopeless about getting into any of the Ivy leagues. Can someone tell me anything about the admissions. Do I have a chance of getting in? Please. Thanks in advance=D

I think you probably need advice from someone who knows you better than we do: does your school have a guidance counselor? He or she will be most helpful if your school sends students to Ivy leagues at least once every few years, but they’re a good place to start regardless. A 2000 is still quite low by Harvard’s standards, FYI. Harvard definitely does take students every year who are recent immigrants and aren’t as good at English as most other applicants, but immigration is by no means a magic pill that will get you in if they don’t think you can handle the work. Your talent at art is definitely a good thing, but I don’t know how good. Good luck! I’m probably not qualified to give you more specific advice than that, so I hope you find a helpful person in a guidance counselor or teacher or other person in your life.

We have couple of students who go to Ivy leagues each year. We’ve had a student who got into Columbia with 1830 SAT score. and I know 2000 is still low, but hopefully I’ll something above 2000. Thanks for the reply=]
