I just finished junior year and I did really bad in French IV, getting a C. With excellent math and music and pretty good grades in other classes, is there any chance at HYP?

what? [10 chars]

What I meant was:

a C will not kill you. Don’t worry about it.

<3 hilsa

maybe at like colleges ranked 10-20. isn’t it ultra-competitive at hyp?

You don’t have to have a 4.0 to get in to those schools. Just a high enough GPA + amazing SAT + something else amazing (thousands of community service hours, a cool hobby, lots of leadership, lots of awards, etc).

One C will NOT kill you.

If you have straight A’s otherwise…

Just drop French next year and don’t worry about it.

would it be better to ED at a lower-ranked place?

life’s no fun if you don’t take chances.

What do you mean by lower-ranked?

like not as good as hyp

Umm… No?

You will get into a bunch of schools.

Only ED at THE school that you want to go to.

It could be that you ED at say… Miami University. And then you get into HYP? Where will you be then? You’ll be binded to Miami and very unhappy.

HYP isn’t everything.

There are other amazing schools.

it’s the only thing

First off, HYP is not everything or the only thing, there are better schools out there for certain majors. And getting a C is by no means going to affect your admission.

HYP schools look for interest, a path where a students delve deeper than just the surface, ie: science projects and studying under a professor to enter a competition and winning or joining your daily newspaper team in your town for mentoring, or composing music and joining concerts of that sort.

All in all, HYP look for people with talent, with compassion, with passion, and with high SATS/ others.

A C isn’t going to kill you.

Also almost all of the CC people here are elitist, don’t mind them. Most of us just cared about the reputation and title, but then some grow up and realize that HYP doesn’t guarantee a successful life or a good college experience. Apply where YOU, not your parents, feel at home and could see yourself achieving and learning at a fun pace.

= patently false

You swear getting a C is going to affect your admission. If your overall grades are outstanding, it means nothing, except for a slight decrease in GPA.

elitist? lol

nothing means nothing

Um what does this have to do with a patent?

anyone who responds seriously to this post…

He used it as a synonym for “clearly” or “obviously.”

For more elitist/intellectual effect. :P
