if you attend a rigorous high school, then 1 c should be fine. If you attend a relatively unknown, not very competitive high school, where everyone has 4.0’s, then both your class rank and unweighted GPA will harm you greatly, most likely making your chances near 0 unless you are hooked.

Yeah, HSL posts don’t count, numerically at least.

It may or not be a ■■■■■. I bet not, though.

Sorry hilsa, I was just making use of that lovely gray color.

I was quoted!

Well, I actually want to go to Princeton. I think I like the environment there. I’m just afraid that mathematics passion and music and other stuff won’t make up for the C.

I got a C in my AP Chem class during the second semester of my junior year, along with a few B’s here in there before applying to college. I’m going to be a freshman at Harvard in the fall so I promise the C won’t make or break your app.

Getting into a school like Princeton or Harvard is about more than having a flawless transcript–anyone can do that. Showing admissions committees how you’re different, what your passions are, and what you can contribute to the student body and to the campus are the most important parts of an application.

EHS09: Apparently you are someone who cannot get a flawless transcript then? Despite the odd cases you see here and there, on the whole, you DO need close to perfect grades in order to even be considered. Don’t be fooled by people telling you of the “unimportance of transcripts”- that is such crap. Keep in mind that college courses are much more challenging than high school courses, and no college wants to accept a student that will most likely fail out.

so my test scores can’t make up for it?

Damn I got ■■■■■■■ -_-

what? 10chars

omgitsover9000, my transcript was pretty strong considering I took 13 AP classes in two years. And I could have gotten straight A’s if I hadn’t focused so much on my extra curricular activities. My point is that if the rest of your grades are strong, a few B’s or even (gasp!) a C won’t kill you. I think people should do what they love and explore some interests rather than stress out over letter grades. I also think that snobbish grade-grubbers are annoying.
