Would it be easier to get accepted into the College of Arts & Sciences than Marshall? I read somewhere that if you indicate that you want to be in Marshall than you will directly be in if you get accepted into USC. Is that true? If not, I am thinking of applying to the College of Arts & Sciences... FYI I am an international student from Hong Kong where lots of people will be applying to Marshall.

All admitted USC students who indicate business or accounting as their first choice major will be directly admitted to the Marshall School of Business as freshmen.

Does this mean that I will get into Marshall if I get into USC and that’s it?

If you indicate business as your first choice, your application will be reviewed by BOTH the USC adcom and the Marshall admissions administrators as well. If Marshall turns an applicant down, there is still a chance that they will be admitted as an undeclared major to Dornsife (College of Liberal Arts & Sciences). However, if you apply only to Dornsife, you have to apply later to Marshall to switch majors to business.

i’d strongly recommend applying to marshall. switching out of the business school is a way easier task than getting in.

If I apply to USC (As a transfer) but don’t have any math requirements filled out, and I put down Marshall as my first choice, but then put economics for my 2nd choice, will this put me at a disadvantage if I dont get accepted to Marshall, or would i be in the exact same position as if I applied only with econ as my first choice?

@BubblyxLove - It would be easier to get into the college than Marshall however it will be MUCH harder to transfer into Marshall from the college. It is strongly advised that you don’t try to go about it this way and this is a common question asked on here so search old posts to find more in depth answers on this.

@collegeworries - Since Calculus I is a requirement for transfer into the business school (I’m not sure if it is for economics), you would not be accepted as a transfer into Marshall. You have to have Calc I completed or be in the process of completing it when you submit your transfer app. Marshall transfer requirements are listed on their website.
