Hey, I am interested in applying to MITES, and was wondering how difficult the admissions process is. Do your grades have to be outstanding in order to even be considered for MITES?? Any information is appreciated. Thanks!!

I am interested in applying for MITES to but I'm not low income.

Anyone and everyone should apply to MITES. Admissions process is pretty difficult; based on stats, its harder to get into mites and mit (percentage wise). grades and scores have to be good, not necessarily outstanding to show that you can handle the rigorous courseload at mites. income is not the sole factor in determining admissions so still appply.

Are sophomores allowed to apply, and are there deferrals for guaranteed admission next year like SSP?

i dont know. there were not rising juniors out of the 62 people in mites 06. im pretty sure you have to be a rising senior but you can look it up.

what exactly is this MITES thing? I looked at the website and it seems as if it is a special program for taking "normal" courses (as in letting people take advanced courses who don't necessarily have the opportunity/atmosphere for those kinds of things at home). so if I've already taken college physics/calculus, it wouldn't be as beneficial for me to go there as opposed to another program?

edit: also, does asian count as a minority?

I don't think asian counts as a minority in this case, but if you're disadvantaged, then you can still apply...

I just got my rejection from MITES.

I wasn't expecting to get in anyway. Oh well.

rejected here....

Hi, i was accepted to the MITES program... and everyone disadvantaged and ethnic minority is able to apply (asians ARE a minority)
