Applying to NIU and UIC, low gpa.

I'm applying to both colleges but am just a bit worried for one reason, my gpa is low.
Currently I have a 2.2 cumulative gpa maybe a bit higher with an overall score of 26 on the act. Sub scores being a 22 in english 20 in math 32 in reading and a 28 in science. Also I have taken honor course's and currently play a sport. In the pass I never really thought about my grades or college its self and didn't understand the importance but what do you think my chances are with have such a low gpa? And is there any other information I can provide to better help anyone answer this question.

Thanks.

UIC values GPA over ACT. Your GPA is very low, <25th percentile, for the school. The only thing which could potentially save you is a good class rank. The school doesn’t really care about extracurriculars when it comes to acceptance. Your ACT is a slightly above average score.

I figured UIC was pushing it. But how would NIU look then? What would you say my chances are?

Bump Bump Bump

First thing 121google, don’t worry. College admission differentiate every year so it really depends on the applying class and the schools admission requirements, so just apply. If you don’t get accepted to either college then I would go to a community college for a couple years, work hard, do well, and transfer to NIU or UIC. You will end up saving a lot of money. NIU and UIC have great quality programs. Check them out and see which is better for you.
