I was academic dismissal from the art institute and i have a 1.78 (i was never told that i was on academic probation and I'm working on finding out if my dismissal can be changed). i wanted to know is it a good idea to apply to Parsons, the school i really want to go too, or should i take some classes at a community college and then apply?

You need to prove that you are capable of doing college level work. The best way to do that would be to take some classes at a community college.

ok thanks. i’ve already registered for classes at a CC.

If you apply to Parsons, you will have to send a transcript and College Official’s Report from the art institute, which will show that you are currently on academic probation. I’m guessing that would make admissions into Parsons, extremely difficult if not impossible.

so i just need to go too a CC and then apply to parson? right.

Not that simple. If Parsons is your goal, you should speak with someone at their admissions, tell them your history, and ask for a frank discussion on the chances that they might eventually accept you and what steps you’d need to achieve. Your history may have removed any realistic chance for you to be accepted there.

What I’m saying is: they may tell you tomorrow that you have little to ZERO chance. Then you can make plans on your next step.

And stop talking about your appeal – it’s been denied and I’m sure if you compare your performance with AI’s code of conduct, you’ll see how they arrived at their decision.

thanks. I called another AI school and she asked me if i was placed on academic probation before i was dismissed and i wasn’t. I never got an e-mail nor anything in the mail telling me i was on probation. So i’m looking into working that out.

I was done talking about it until today but I’m going to a CC for summer classes and then fall classes and applying to FIT and Parsons.
