Applying to Penn.

Im sorry but a solid 50% had lower than 1440 on math and reading…so really the emphasis on sats is overrated?

@ Poeme. So when you apply to Upenn, you apply directly to one of the 3 Undergrad Schools within the University?

Yes, when you apply to Penn you must choose either Wharton, the College, SEAS, or Nursing on your application. You are not required to choose a major however. You are only allowed to apply to more than one program if you are applying for a dual degree program like M&T, Huntsman, or LSM. In this case you are allowed to choose one of the schools as a back up because dual degree programs are very specialized and competitive. For example say someone is interested in medicine but they are also interested in the administrative components where it is good to have some business experience. They may want to apply to LSM and put the College as their backup in case they do not get into the program (it may not be a reflection of you but rather that you may not be the best fit for the program since it is so specialized).

hopeful201–the admit officer at my Penn Preview mentioned them. bvpp93–yeah, just like every other school. The number of poor scorers on the SAT at top schools is shocking. I mentioned in that same post that Wharton kids aren’t better at academics, they just deliver more results and have more focused interests. I don’t know who told you there was an emphasis on stats–it’s no heavier than any top school.

wharton ED acceptance rate is much higher than - 8.9%. lets say they accept 250 whartonites ED , 8.9% admission rate = 2650 applicants. for the 650 cas aceptees, 50% acceptance rate?

i think the acceptance for ed wharton is more like 20%
