Applying to right schools? :-\

listen, plz don't waste ur EA with Stanford single choice EA, i can tell you right now, you will most likely be deferred or REJECTED and that valuable ED card will be wasted. If you want engineering, do CORNELL ED and HOPE FOR THE BEST.

Also, apply to all the reach schools if you would really attend them. One user posted about applyting to 8 super hard to get into schools and being rejected by all but Yale. He was told, when applying, to reduce the number, but he didn't and got into one. I'm not advocating everyone apply to 30 schools, but if there are really 10 schools that you would like to go to that you would attend if you got in, you can and are willing to afford the money, will sacrifice the time, will do the apps, are okay with using the potential time on these things and not others, apply.

I have to agree that Cornell ED looks like a good shot for you. Being a female in engineering is a plus at most schools, but at Cornell you have the advantage of being able to switch to all kinds of other disciplines if engineering doesn't work out for you; I've heard that nearly half of engineering admits wind up majoring in something else.

BTW,I would retake both the SAT and ACT this fall. The low score in your intended major could be a red flag to admissions. You can expect an improved score just because your brain has matured over the last half-year, and if you work on your weak areas, you'll have an outstanding application. Did the amount of reading in the science ACT have a negative impact? Figure out what held you back, and take the steps you need to improve your science score.
