Applying to Rutgers multiple campuses...

I am in the process of applying to Rutgers and I have the business school at New Brusnwick as my one choice and the business school at Newark as another. If my stats aren't good enough for New Brunswick will I be admitted to the Newark campus or are my stats looked at as a whole? (btw I have a 3.3 gpa and a 27 act)

On the status page it seems to show each campus and school decision separately. It also says that admissions decisions may be posted separately as each committee makes its decision

Hope that helps.

Make sure you are OK with Newark before you apply. It is very different that NB (on the edge of a VERY rough neighborhood) and has a significant commuter population. (FYI - did my MBA part-time at Rutgers).

how difficult is it to transfer from newark to nb if I dont get in

Since you are allowed to apply to 3 campuses I would also apply to the Arts and Sciences school at New Brunswick. You could eventually transfer into the Business program if you do well.

would I be more likely to be accepted into the arts and sciences school with my gpa/act?

Mamajay and nj2011mom are right. Your act is in range for sas assuming you have a decent class rank. Its a little low for freshman admittance to business nb but you never know. And you can do your core requirements at sas and with a good gpa transfer to business as a junior. Newark is in a bad area. If you are really considering it be sure to visit.

would you recommend putting the arts and sciences school at New Brunswick as my number one choice then?

I don’t know if the order matters. You can be accepted to multiple schools. Different schools also give different scholarship offers so if you need money its best to keep all options open.

Ok thanks. Also is it correct that Rutgers doesn’t recquire a high school transcript to be sent?

You self report your grades. Its best if you use a copy of your transcript to do it. Rutgers only requires a final transcript if you enroll. At that point they verify it agrees to the self reported grades. If there are differences thay can rescind your acceptance.

The order you list your preferences does not matter.

Based upon what they did this year, I think your stats are too low to get into the Business School as a freshman - however I do think they will accept you into arts and sciences. You would then have to take the 6 intro Business classes and try applying to the Business School later on. I do know they are trying to grow the Business program so there is no reason that they shouldn’t accept you as long as you do well. By the way I do know several students that are doing this so it’s not unusual.

when the application comes out, have your app done 3 weeks after and send it out and send your SAT’s/ACT immediately as well. If you do this, you will have a way higher chance of getting in. Also apply to SAS NB because you can transfer from SAS to Business in 3rd year.
