Applying to schools again(much shorter list)

Hello,

I am currently a student of U of Alabama who's taking a half gap year because my visa for F-1 hasn't been approved in time so my admission and scholarship is deferred to next spring semester. Right now , I am on F-2 visa. I have stayed in the US for 5 years.

I have been considering for a while whether I should re-apply to schools again during this time so that I may go to schools with full ride. While I have been awarded full tuition from current college, dormitory and other fees are still giving burdens to my family.

This is my stats during my high school period:

I am considering(NOT decided to apply yet)

U of Pittsburgh
U of Miami
U of Georgia
Duke University
U of Richmond
Fordham University
UNC Chapel Hill
Southern Methodist University
University of Maryland
Clark University
Berea College

All of these schools have full ride merit scholarships, some of which require specific scores(and I have high enough scores).

First, which schools should I rule out?

Second, will I have good shots to those schools WITH scholarship?

Thank you..and, polite answers please.

By the way, I applied to U of Richmond last year, and got waitlist offer only if i can show that I have 60k; I think the reason maybe that they got my score TWO MONTHS later than they should have(yes they screwed up a lot!). I sent scores on November and they said they didnd't get it when I was waiting for my result on February....if I apply to Richmond again, will I be rejected or waitlisted again?

Also, if I apply to those schools and get scholarship, will U of Alabama notice this and cancel my admission and scholarship?

Thank you...

Chapel Hill is really nice.

@purportedlay‌ I know there is a full ride merit scholarship in UNC Chapel hill, but do you think I have a good shot?

I think you have a pretty decent shot at getting some kind of scholarship, out of state acceptance and stuff is problematic though.

Are you a student at University of Alabama? I ask because the best financial aid is given to freshman. Once you are a transfer student, you don’t really get squat; worse, you are an international student so that is even more limited. BTW once you start at a university, the high school record isn’t really considered.

I am, but right now I m not in school because of the visa approval hasn’t been made in time :frowning: so I have no college credit at all. That makes me a Freshmen Applicant.

If you really do need to have at least full-tuition to make a different institution an option, then scratch everything off your list that doesn’t offer full-tuition. If you need a true full-ride, scratch everything off that doesn’t offer that. And go re-read the guaranteed merit-aid thread in the Financial Aid Forum. Something new might have turned up since you looked at it last.

All those schools have full ride merit scholarships.
