Applying to schools before FAFSA opens

Hi guys!!

I have a few safety schools that I plan on applying to this summer. I’m just wondering how the whole financial part of it works!

For example, I want to apply to Arizona State this month. How would I get financial aid? Is there a way of sending them the fafsa info once I file it? Also, if I end up making national merit semifinalist, is there a way to notify them of that as well?

Thanks!

Yes. The earlier you get apps out the less stress u have later. Schools that don’t require essays are easy. A school like ASU will tell you the scholarship up front. But it’s $80 or so to apply OOS. So if it’s dependent on you getting NMS you may wait to see and save the $80.

Unless you are a pell recipient most public colleges don’t give need abd the FAFSA is not relevant. some do match the pell grant.

That said to answer you, the school will have a FAFSA deadline and just get it in prior. So go ahead and when college apps open get it done.

Actually…you need to wait to file the 2022-2023 Fafsa until October 1, 2021. You can’t do it sooner.

But that’s not a big deal. Just do your application…you won’t need to commit to the college until May. Your need based financial aid award will come along later, but in plenty of time to make that matriculation decision.

So…apply to ASU now. When you are accepted, I believe you will receive your merit aid award shortly thereafter. Complete the FAFSA after October 1. If you are eligible for need based aid, that will follow.

Yeah, she can apply to colleges b4 the FAFSA is filed …in fact, it’ll take a lot of stress off.

You can apply to the schools when their application open. When you file FAFSA, after Oct 1, you list a code for schools you want the results sent to and that happens automatically.

THANK YOU!! That’s exactly what I was wondering about.
