applying to smith. but it says I have to be a high school senior to be eligible

I took a gap year but I came upon this on this website "To be eligible for first-year admission, you should be in the final year of a course of study leading to entrance into one of your own national universities." can I apply? anyone ever took a gap year and applied to Smith college?

Yes, you can apply in a gap year. Many have.

This page? https://www.applyweb.com/apply/smith/intl_instruct.html

That page is for applicants educated internationally, for whom terms like “senior” and “12th grade” may not be meaningful, and is intended to help determine whether they’re transfer students.

There’s no issue with having taken a gap year.

Don’t you usually first apply to college and then take a gap year?

TokiDoki171: Not really, some students take the gap year to strengthen their apps or to figure out what they want to do. I’ve also met others who aren’t pleased with the schools they got into, so they wait another year to apply to others.
