Hi, I'm a high school senior from CA applying to several privates and a couple UCs. I'm confused about whether I should be applying to specific colleges (like UC Berkeley's College of Chemistry) or more general colleges (like UC Berkeley College of Letters and Science, which includes a Chemistry major). I am not totally sure on what I will be majoring in, which is why I think the broader approach could provide me with more flexibility...? But what are the pros of the more specific approach? Research, resources, first priority with major classes, etc.? I need to figure this out soon so I can know which applications I need to complete.

Btw, I am planning on majoring in bio/biochem/chem/cell bio with a possible double major or minor in English.

Thank you!
