Do you think the fact that I have not (and most likely will not) taken any of the business courses offered hurt my admission to UG Stern? Do they care if I took availible courses or not?

Let me tell you why I have not or will not take bus. courses in my school:

To take the “most challenging courseload”, as suggested by colleges, I’d rather take AP classes than electives.

The business department in my school is a laugh, and most courses are occupied the biggest slackers in the school. All they do all day is play on the computers when they’re not watching the Apprentice or the Office!

It will hurt my weighted average and RANK (i have a great shot at valedictorian or salutatorian) to take a “lesser” elective course.

So anyway, I’m okay with waiting to get a world-class business education from NYU Stern, rather than my high school. The question is: Is Stern Admissions okay with that?

P.S. I do D.E.C.A (won some awards) and might do a summer business program (maybe), so it’s not like I completely have no knowledge of business.

I don't think high school business classes would make any difference especially if they aren't of at a challenging level.
Applications tend to focus on gpa, sat, activities, recommendations and essays. Of those your essay is by far the best opportunity to highlight why you want to study business. Stern knows most people haven't studied business yet and they are far more interested in finding really smart people who can learn about business.

I would just like to address the fact that my school has business classes, moreover a finance course is offered in which the work is quite easy and in the other hand my HS offers programs that are taught by our teachers but are material from pace university, this course that Im talking about is financial accounting and it takes us a year to finish it meanwhile at pace they do it for a semester. Kids still have a hard time besides the course being stretched to a year when it needs to be 1/2 a year. But anyways the point is that if business classes are to be to looked at seriously, they need to be rigorous and HS dont often offer rigorous courses unless they have programs through colleges. Even if HS's did have business classes it wouldn't be hard.

Don't worry. My D is accepted into Stern by ED. She has never taken any business classes. She was planning to go to CAS, but changed her mind after the junior year. She took a lot of science classes and participated in science related EC. You are going to be fine.

I don't think having previous business coursework at high school is that important (I don't know any H.S. that offers such classes), but having professional/volunteer business-related internships would certainly help.

I was worried about that too.
This is my first year taking a business class as a senior, as it is the first time my school is offering AP Economics Macro and I got into Stern ED. Most of my classes and extracurriculars were science/computer oriented.
