Applying to these Non Ivies?

The schools I'll be applying to in the fall:
Villanova (first choice, shown a lot of interest)
Lehigh
Tulane
Lafayette
U of San Diego (the private one, not the state school)

White female from large fairly competitive public school in NY

Catholic

SAT: 1980/1280 (720CR, 560M, 700W) first try; planning to retake in Oct.

ACT: 29 (34E, 25M, 35R, 22S, 31 English/writing with an 8 essay..) without studying; planning to retake in Sept.

SAT II: Bio E- 550 (didn't mean to send this score.. oops)

GPA: About 3.6 UW, 3.85 W

AP Exams: World History (4), English Lang. (4), US History (5)

Course load: All honors/APs except for math and science (until 11th; honors science starting senior year)

I've received mostly A's, 5 B's, and one C+ throughout my high school career.

Senior course load: AP Lit, AP Gov, AP Psych, AP Italian, Physics H, Pre-calc

Academic Honors: Global Language Honor Society (9), AP Scholar (11)

ECs: Student Government (9), paid job @ restaurant (10, 11), unpaid internship at law firm during summer (rising junior), paid job doing social media for a company (10, 11, 12), paid internship at hotel in NYC during summer (rising senior), and possibly a paid job at retail store (rising senior, 12)

Volunteer Work: 50+ hours with Student government doing community service in school and around my community (9), 28 hours from annual christmas party for homeless children in NYC (9, 10, 11, 12), projected 36 hours from teen book review program at local library (11, 12)

Essays: According to my AP Lang. teacher, my common app essay is great. Have not written my supplements yet.

Teacher rec: My first one, I'm assuming, will be phenomenal because the teacher really liked me and I excelled in his class; the second one is coming from my APUSH teacher who was very tough and hard to please, but he basically promised good recs to those who excelled on the AP exam

Guidance counselor rec: Maybe a little better than a generic rec.

No hooks, no legacy

Villanova EA: Match
Tulane: High match (OOS hurts, since in-staters can get into Tulane EA with 3.5/28)
USD: Low match/Match
Lehigh: High match
Lafayette: Match/High match (pay attention to your interview)

Villanova:High Match
Lehigh: High Match
Tulane:High Match
Lafayette- Do you mean Lafayette college or Purdue? Lafayette College-Reach Purdue-Match
San Diego:Match

Really, its the SAT math score and the bio score, you didn’t say what you wanted to major in, but if its anything math related (engineering or business) then you’re gonna need at least a 700 math SAT score, probably more.

@John-

Lafayette College! And also, I’m planning on majoring in communications or english.

Bumppppppp

My kiddo was admitted to Lehigh and Lafayette with very similiar stats…same SAT, one point higher ACT. ECs are comparable to yours except he’s an athlete. He’s playing D3 sports in college but athletics weren’t on the table at either of these schools so I don’t think it mattered much for admissions. Good luck!

I think that you’ll probably get accepted to all of those schools, except for (maybe) Tulane… it’s a bit of a reach! You’ll definitely get accepted to most of those schools though!

chance me back :)

Thanks for all the responses.

Also, if I were to add Bucknell & BC onto my list (although I’m sure they’re high matches/reaches), what would my chances be?

Buuuuuuuuump

Villanova - match
Lehigh - match
Lafayette - match
Idk anything about the other schools

Cool, thanks for the response.

Does anybody know about Bucknell & BC, too?

Buuuuuuuuuuump

Bucknell: Reach
Boston College: High match
