Applying to top BME PhD programs with a W on transcript

Hi all,

I'd like to go to Johns Hopkins, GA Tech, or Duke for BME grad.

I'm a student at Georgia Tech majoring in biomedical engineering. I transferred to here from a small liberal arts school with a 3.97 GPA. I'm considered a sophomore now because of my credits.

I have 2 summers of research in biophysics, a semester of organic chem research, and currently working on BME research until a graduate in 2 years. I also have a TON of ECs.

Anyways, I came in as chemical engineering and decided BME was more related to my research goals so I dropped my intro to chemical processes class (it would have been a waste of time in my eyes) after switching majors. Since this class has nothing to do with BME, will the "W" on my transcript affect graduate admissions?

Bump please

I think this is something you could include in your statement of purpose, when you discuss how you decided on BME for graduate studies. I don’t think it will hurt you, especially not with your high GPA.

It’s totally irrelevant, and I’m not even sure you’ll need to bother discussing it or justifying it. You’re fine.
