Bump want an answer to my ED question

My brother had a 2.7 GPA his sophomore for family issues as well. He eventually brought it to a 3.55 with his senior year grades in all A.P. classes. He is now at Cornell and in his application explained his family issues and I think they saw his potential. If you can maintain the 4.0 in all A.P.'s and make it to a 3.0+ it may not be totally out of the question. However this would require high SAT/ACT scores and a good explanation of the reasons for your grades. Colleges like to see an upward trend and it seems you may have that (despite freshman year). If you can pull together high test scores (like my brother did) I’d say it’s worth applying.

I wouldn’t do ED if your GPA is not great. Wait at least one semester of senior to show that you can improve.

I agree with the above posters. The statistics for ED applicants about their high admit rates are a little misleading; the people that apply ED tend to be better qualified. I’d say that it’s much better to wait and just bring your GPA up.
