on the application to apply to transfer, how do you denote that a course was repeated?

I just want to make sure my transcript and application are consistent with each other. At my school, when you repeat a course, the original course and grade/units are discounted in the original semester you had taken it.

Basically, my question is - when you apply to transfer, do you put the original grade you got, then there is a box next to that where you can put in the new grade? Or do you just write out the entire academic record as is, with the new grade in the semester you actually repeated it? Sorry if this sounds confusing lol. I haven't even seen the application yet as i won't be applying until this upcoming november

I get what you’re saying. From my understanding you write out each term as is, with failed courses. If you repeated the course later on then you’ll input the grade as is again during the semester you passed it. I don’t think there’s an option to mark “repeated.” The UCs will see that you repeated the course and will adjust the GPA accordingly. On the TAG application you can actually mark a course as “repeated.” I wish they would add this feature to the UC application.

I’m in the same boat as you. I retook a few courses for passing grades and it’s a bit nerve-wracking to think they’ll mistakenly count in the non-passing grade into the GPA calculation. I’m sure we’ll be fine though.

Thanks for the response! It’s interesting because apparently they do denote classes that received academic renewal but apparently not repeated courses? Last question, is there a spot on the app where we input the gpa or do they do that themselves?
Now I’m really worried lol.

No problem! :)

There isn’t a spot where you can note your GPA. They do it themselves when they look over your application. My guess is they use computers to figure out your GPA. I once asked a UCSB counselor about a failed Business Calculus course that I had retaken for a higher grade at a different community college and she said that the process of receiving the higher grade was automatic since both classes articulated the same. There is a section on the application that comes after your personal statements that’s called “Additional Comments.” You can write in there the classes that were failed and that you retook them - just to be sure.
