Applying to U Mich~!

U Mich is a rolling admission and I am going to try to send my app as fast as I can but I am worried about one thing....My 1st semester senior year grades....My GPA has been low freshmen year and it increased sophomore year and it increased even more at junior year.... I believe that my 1st semester SR year grade is going to either make or break me..... Do you guys think that I will have the time to send my 1st semester grade or will it be too late for U Mich to count it into consideration?

colleges would much rather have your grades increase rather than decrease, so you should be in good shape when applying (freshman grades typically aren't given as much weight as junior year grades anyways). when asking for your counselor and teacher for reqs you might want to ask them to write about how your senior grades are going to be much higher than freshman year b/c you've worked hard to redeem yourself.

I hate to rain on your parade gogochris, but Michigan does not even look at Fresman grades. So you should be ok.

Just to be safe should I send them my 1st semester grades fast as I can?

i guess if you wanted to be on the really, really safe side write a note somewhere on your app telling them that you want to send in your senior grades.

It is difficult to give you advice without knowing your stats. What is your unweighed GPA for Sophomore and Junior years? What's your SAT/ACT score.

About the grade increase... My grades have decreased, but my classes have gotten progressively harder. I went from 2 AP/AC courses to 4 from Soph to Junior year. My GPA dropped I believe from around 3.7 to around 3.5 for a 3.6 average. Will they take the curriculum into consideration when looking at increase/decrease?

Freshmen SOLID 2.0 YES 2.0
sophomore 3.04
junior 4.9w uw=4.4

SAT: 2360
SATII: Uhm not yet but planning to take 2

Alexandre above is my GPA

A2wolves, your GPA is ok. With a solid SAT/ACT score (1300+/29+) you will have a reasonable chance.

GoGoChris, like I saod, your 2.0 will not even be looked at, nor will your SAT IIs. They will only consider your Sophomore and Junior grades and your SAT/ACT. Your SAT is awesome, so there is nothing to worry about. Your GPA is clearly improving. Is it out of 5.0? What's your class rank? Did you take any AP classes? Give me more details. As it stands, I would have to say that you have a very reasonable chance.

My rank is in the low 80's due to my 9th grade GPA I took 1 AP class (stats) Junior year and 2 Honors(Eng/Math) and I will be taking 4 APs Senior year (Eng/Calc/Phys/History)..... I am surprised U Mich doesn't count SAT II.... I thought they would :O

Oh and our school GPA uw MAXIMUM is 4.4 so yah I got the highest GPA possible UW at Junior year

Does U Mich count ECs heavily? I don't have a pages of lists like everyone else..... I wanted to go into academics or teaching so I mainly focused my ECs at teaching at learning centers/teaching the disabled/tutoring kids etc....Nothing fancy like research....

Given your Junior grades and your SAT, I would say your chances are good. Keep up the great work.

I really hope so!!
