I applied to Berkeley Haas last year, but had to withdraw my application due to not passing one of their pre requisite classes in time. I am now put in the situation where I am enrolled in my third year of CCC and will now be applying again.
I didn’t pass the class and ended up having the grade/course undergo Academic Renewal. I also recently retook the course and finished with an A. I have an overall 4.0 GPA with all pre reqs, IGETC, and Breadth requirements completed. My question is to what extent would this weigh against me. I had a personal circumstance affect me which led to my poor performance in the class (will be explaining in application). I know Haas is notoriously stringent and difficult, but I also know they understand and see highly of students who overcome obstacles or redeem themselves.
Would love some input into this situation. Thank you all.
I thought regarding Haas if you take a pre-req twice they only count the first attempt. I could be wrong and I don’t know how an F figures. You really need to email them directly. You need to know so you can pick Econ if necessary.
@Ohm888
Thanks for the response. I also saw the link you included in the other post.
How would it work if someone did not pass a pre req the first time then? When they factor that grade in only, that automatically means they become ineligible since the pre req was not passed, right?
Assuming you mean a process at your school where the old grades are effectively removed from your record than the class may no longer count as your first attempt. In general the UC system says it honors AR granted by a college. You need to find out what the specific policy is for Haas and how it applies to you. The poeple who know are the folks working at Haas…
