So, I want to apply to a few universities, but I want to be sure that I’m not making a mistake.

Currently, I have an 1160 SAT score, and I am retaking soon and hopefully will get it up to at least 1300+

My question is…

If I apply to a university and get accepted but I get a higher SAT score, can I like re-apply or something so I can possibly get a better scholarship?

I am only asking this so I can get all my applications over with and I will have less to worry as I move into senior year.

Also, I forgot to mention that some of the universities have their maximum scholarship consideration early too, so another reason why I should apply early

You need to ask each of them about this. They will tell you if it is possible to have a scholarship adjusted if you are able to report a higher test score.

You should wait until you have your best SAT score, if you can. You can send in an app with 1160 if the deadline for merit scholarships is before you get your results back for the Oct 5 SAT. You could email admissions and ask them to use your new scores, but if it’s after the deadline, they have no obligation to do so. You are running a risk, but if you really want to be considered, that’s a risk you have to take.

Here is what isn’t going to happen: assuming it’s a rolling-decision college, they won’t accept you with no merit aid, and then give you money when you submit a higher score. They make those awards as they accept students. Maybe if you get them the new scores BEFORE they have made their decisions, it could happen. But scolleges with rolling decisions usually notify students pretty quickly. Total speculation, but you might have a couple of weeks tops to notify of a new test score.
