Applying to UPenn CAS vs. Wharton

In other schools like NYU, if I get accepted, I want to eventually double econ+finance. Some other schools like UPenn don't allow that because finance and economics are in different schools (Econ in CAS, Finance in Wharton) and you can only choose one. I like both.

Mind you, I'm a long shot at both. I've posted my stats here like three times. A very very long shot. Looking to go into investment banking, I see that getting into Wharton has miles of advantages over CAS in terms of job placement, but CAS definitely can compare to the likes of other Ivies and schools like Northwestern and Cornell.

I've read multiple times that Wharton has a lower admission rate than CAS. That said, should I shoot for CAS and the slightly better chance (by probability) of getting in or for Wharton and just go for the big one?

[Penn - Dual Degree](http://www.college.upenn.edu/degree/dual.php)

Go for the one that interests you that most. That said, Penn CAS seems to be terribly underrated, especially if you end up wanting to study a secondary subject as well. ilovebagels has often posted about how he and others have done quite well with “only” a CAS degree.

Interesting…had never seen that before. Thanks for the correction!

You are definitely allowed to double in finance and economics…but seriously, why would you? What is a B.S. in econ and a B.A in econ going to get you?

astonmartinDBS is right… the idea sounds appealing, It seems like it is a waste of time when taken into consideration with the workforce. it’s not gonna give you much of an edge.
